"Bear in mind that I am using these on a Fender Strat electric and on a Gibson L-1 steel string acoustic!
Unlike industrial felts that are made entirely of compressed flock, the Thin Feltrums have a laminate core that gives them just enough sturdiness that they are perfect for playing lead.
A major problem with the industrial felts (if you can find the thin, somewhat flexible ones that I am referring to, as they have become very scarce) is that they're too soft/light (and just keep getting softer/lighter with play), and so you can't get a good, solid attack.
What's more, the Thin Feltrums, while being sturdy, are also flexible, so I can still get inside the strings and whip it, which is neat for playing 'inside rhythm.'
The Thin Feltrums offer the best of both worlds, the feel and quiet 'ride' of a felt along with the sturdiness and flexibility of a thin laminate.
